Child Welfare Procedures

Lakelands FC is committed to ensuring that all necessary steps are
taken to protect and safeguard the welfare of the children and young
people who play with the club, this includes ensuring that all
managers and coaches are Garda Vetted and that safe recruitment
procedures are followed.

The National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012
– 2016 commenced on 29th April 2016 and since that date a statutory
obligation has been placed upon the FAI to ensure that all persons who
undertake ‘relevant work’ with children have been vetted prior to
taking up that role.

It is now a criminal offence for a person acting on behalf of the FAI
or Lakelands FC to work with children in the absence of Garda Vetting.

There is an important email that has been sent this evening to all
managers and coaches to update them on the new process so please read
this information and address any queries to

Warm wishes

Brendan Kelly
Chairman and Acting Child Welfare Officer
